I'm working on a series is called "Flash" --a set of studies of graffiti 'tags.' All the pieces in Flash are manipulations of the word "flash" using the various wordforms I've observed and photographed.The title of the series comes from the experience that I have of seeing these street pieces, which often just have people's attention for a flash of a moment -- and must thus make an impact at first glance).

I feel some kind of affinity with tags --perhaps something to do with their ephemeral nature, the fact that they are such raw expressions done in the moment. There is often a poignancy, an element of danger and desperation about them. The fact that they are both a rebellion against the fabric of civilized monotony and also a cry for attention. I think they share a bit of the radical philosophy and sometimes the aesthetic of Zen.
